Carters Mounts manufacture premium priced black core mounts. As the name implies the bevel cut ( the core ) is not the usual white edge but black. Black core mounts have many uses Black core is useful for black and white photography. Top colours are very limited. You can get black core with a black top sheet (as illustration) white, and plain antique white. Great care has to be taken with white in black core. There is a professional view at this end that a white top paper on black core creates a grey cast removing the very essence of a sharp pure white . Others disagree.
